SUMMER SCHOOL – CONCERTS – “IMOLA CITY AWARD”:
BIG AND YOUTH TALENTS FOR TWO WEEKS OF CONCERTS,
PIANO AND CHAMBER MUSIC MASTERCLASS

From 15th to 30th July 2017 Imola returns to be the center of international piano and chamber music. Two weeks of high specialization and concerts that will attract to Imola the best talents from all over the world. This is the 6° edition of the Imola Summer Piano Academy & Festival, an event with a “double soul” organized by the Imola International Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro”. The Festival is realized in collaboration with Comune di Imola and with the support of the Ministero dei Beni Culturali, of the Regione Emilia Romagna and of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio of Imola.

The Imola Summer Piano Academy & Festival was conceived in 2012 with an innovative “double soul”: the first one is the daytime Summer School with the Professors of the Academy, that can be attended by young musicians from all over the world and not only by the internal students of the Academy; the second one is a afternoon and evening Concerts Series performed by the big talents of the classical music, such as Alexander Lonquich with the Imola Chamber Orchestra, the Fauves Quartet with Nazzareno Carusi, Andrea Manco, Domenico Nordio, and also emerging young talents who have many occasions to perform. Two evening concerts will be entirely dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach into a focus dedicated to the great German composer (on July 18th Domenico Nordio, violin; on July 25th Gile Bae, piano).
Among the students who will attend the Summer School there will be also some delegation of very young pianists who have been selected in China, Japan and Australia thanks to a series of projects consolidated by the Imola Piano Academy, an istitution that offsets the escape of students from Italy and whose students come from more than 40 countries.
During the Festival there will be also the “Imola City Award”, reserved for the students enrolled in the Piano Summer School, excepted the internal students of the Academy. The prize amounts to 20.000€ and includes the “Florence Daniel Marzotto Talent Award” donated by Veronica and Dominique Marzotto in the memory of Countess Florence, and the “M° Umberto Micheli e Lelia Magistrelli Awards” donated by the new President of the Imola Piano Academy, dott. Francesco Micheli.

Moreover on July 18th will take place the opening of the photo exhibition entitled “Photo of a story” by Gian Luca Liverani, that is set in the rooms of the Rocca Sforzesca and that shows the story of the Imola Piano Academy from the beginning till now.
On July 21st there will be a panel discussion about “The Pianist’s Profession” with pianists and industry experts and with the new President of the Imola Piano Academy, Francesco Micheli, as moderator of the meeting. The opening speech will be by Mrs. Flavia Piccoli Nardelli, President of the 7° Culture Commission at the House of Representatives, who will speak about the current situation and the future perspectives of Music in our country.
On July 25th will take place the launch of “Il tuo piano per domani”, an innovative book about piano teaching edited by the Composition Department of the Academy, that is guided by Maestro Marco Di Bari. The book will be published by Volontè Rugginenti.

The partecipation to all the events is free until exhaustion of the available places.
